As I just said stop thinking that way because that’s the status quo. So, the status quo right here. We see so many people have increased in stress so many people are on prescription medications taking antidepressants. The cost of prescriptions is expensive so this stress-based society is expensive. It’s expensive for employers with health care plans premiums going up. It’s expensive for the employee to consume health care and actually use it. If they need prescriptions counseling is not cheap. You know, we think about the net income for your employees. If they have to pay a bridge toll to get over into San Francisco and the Bay Area that was my home for many, many years where I grew up and then it just gets expensive right.
So, these things start taking out of net income so maybe somebody has health care, you say Okay, I’m offering health care and that’s your recruiting talk track is we offer health care can the employee actually afford to use the health care once they’re on board to stay healthy. That’s something to think about as a manager and then from there we see people aren’t exercising. Exercising shifts the hormones in the body. Exercising has been proven to help people feel better to reduce stress to reduce inflammation all these different things so we need more exercise and we need to stop being so sedentary and just punching the clock type of thing go for walking meeting. Get out there, take your people for a walking meeting. They will thank you and. It’s very healthy thing to do and get connected with your neighbors, know people when I manage people, I always remember the first name, I greet them by the first name when I walk by how are you doing so and so how are you doing so and so all that so have human connection.
40 to 50% of people are divorced. This impacts the next generation so when people can’t be at home with their children and they have to show up to work. When there’s an option perhaps for them to work remotely three days a week, two days a week whatever having choice as a grown adult to work remotely these are things you can do as a manager. You can create policies that support people to have better work life balance and that is the best thing about being in a management or leadership role is the ability to create good culture.
