So now that you have a lot more awareness around work, around psychology, and around just dealing with people in general. I want you to start thinking about what pain cycle is present at work. Every workplace has good things about it and every workplace has challenging things about it perhaps challenging people in certain roles, in certain positions of authority so if you are a manager and a leader, this is a great time to also think about your own leadership and management style, take a moment to just review the pain cycle at work. If there is turnover at work, why are people leaving, what have they said that hasn’t been acted on yet within the company all the way to the top, and then from their 360-degree reviews quarterly reviews water cooler chats about?
Oh, there’s what else? what else is going on in your company that may be causing some negative things that can be changed through a more trauma-informed holistic human-centered approach? Take a minute, write those things down. I’m a big believer in mindset and here’s why.
When I heard the statistic, I was shocked depending on the research you read 60% to 80% of human thought is negative, so most people are negative people by default and over 50 percent of what people think about daily is negative and most of it repeats over and over again like a dirty washing machine so unless people wake up to do the hard work to break through and transform their life. They’re largely walking around in a negative state, so understanding this is very important because mindset transforms all and if you want to help have a more positive culture and a more positive workplace, you need to understand that, people are negative by default and it is largely an unconscious unaware thing that they’re going around in the world this way and then from there you can start helping people through different activities, helping people reframe things in a more positive light so this is what I say to people after listening for a few minutes and they go on and on and on and I say like I’ve heard you talk about this.
I hear that you’re saying this so I always acknowledge them and then from there I said look you know this is kind of a negative view of the situation right here so what I am asking for is that you reframe this into a more positive way and into a way that gets us a solution and the response that is the most optimal so take a moment and reframe that thought from a negative into a positive and then share with me what you have and you’ll be surprised what people come up with and how they start shifting but you have to coach them and you have to help them understand that, what they’re presenting is very negative. It’s not healthy and then what is the healthiest optimistic way to talk about something and I’m not saying anything has to be roses but what I am saying is if somebody has a consistent pattern of negativity. It’s very draining. It’s bad energy so we want to have people that are more conscious, they’re more aware and they start bringing things forward in ways that have solutions instead of problems.
I had a CEO that I worked for one time and the first week I worked for the CEO, he said don’t ever bring me problems into my office, bring me solutions and if you thought of every solution then tell me what the problem is but always focus on trying to solve things and make things better.
