Employee coaching vs counseling.
Understand that, there is a right time for coaching, there’s also a right time for counseling coaching really focuses on helping people bring out what they realize they need to improve on and own using smart goals counseling examines the issues provides direct opinions and seeks to correct those undesired actions so coaching culture provides room for the employee to increase self-awareness and self-ownership and if you have a coaching culture you want to ensure that your managers use language that is constructive and that helps build the employee rather than tear people down the old thing of tough love and tearing people down you can be direct. I’m a very direct person. You know where you stand with me but I try to do it in a way that leaves that person in a better place and also leaves that person feeling like they can come back to me to share things or to get help and that I’m the person that they want to come back to as opposed to being a manager that just tears people down shuts them down and then has them going man I’m walking on eggshells.
So, understand that, there’s a difference you can coach and kind of counsel on things say: Hey, I noticed these issues there are different ways. Here are some different solutions right to kind of correct these undesired uh things going on and you know all that and then you can coach people with smart goals.
