It’s important to understand who is teaching your course. My name is Drew Aversa as I mentioned and I am an author, keynote speaker, business consultant, and coach but before that, I was a firefighter paramedic so I saw trauma on a daily basis working on some of the busiest companies in California responding to 911 emergencies and seeing the unimaginable in our very own communities as well as going through an injury when I was 23 years old where I was in a wheelchair and then coming back out of that and to not have counseling in a time when mental health wasn’t talked about and to have learned the hard way years later and to be here still today as I actually lost colleagues in public safety to suicide to other unfortunate events because we weren’t talking about these sorts of things and the resources just weren’t there.
I’m extremely passionate about this field. I also attended training programs and workshops with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Peter Levine who are both experts in trauma and very well-known. On my journey I became a yoga instructor because I found that yoga was extremely healing for my own life both the physical injury and the leftover stress from those sorts of things and learned a lot about meditation and use various meditation techniques as well, so I practice what I preach, and I also understand the research behind these things because I have gone through a lot of time and research to piece my own life back together from that wheelchair to where I am today to help a lot of people through my journey and my experience by working with some of the best people out there.
A lot of research has been done to put this program together. I really look forward to sharing what I’ve learned through this trauma-informed management ® course with you. Additionally, I look forward to being a resource and thought partner to your organization as you put programs together in the workplace.
